We install Generac standby units, and every other major generator brand, for homeowners across Oklahoma - we hold no manufacturer dealer agreement, so the brand we quote is whichever one fits the house.
Oklahoma is a good place to own one and a bad place to improvise. Ice brings lines down for days, summer wind does it in minutes, and the outages that actually hurt are the multi-day ones where a portable generator runs out of gasoline on night two. If you already have a portable unit, we also install the inlet box and manual transfer switch that let you run it safely instead of through extension cords.

Sizing is the whole decision
Air conditioning compressors, an electric range, an electric water heater and a well pump are what drive the size. Everything else is rounding.
What the install involves
- Load survey, and a real conversation about which loads have to stay alive
- Siting the unit for clearances, exhaust and how close it sits to bedroom windows
- Pad or base, set level, somewhere that will not flood
- Gas supply sized for the unit's demand - the gas line itself is run by a licensed plumber we bring in, not our electricians
- Transfer switch and the panel work behind it, including load management if used
- Permit and inspection
- Startup and commissioning under load, and registering the unit
- A walkthrough of the exercise cycle and what to do if it ever does not start - we install and commission the unit, we do not provide its ongoing service
Generator or battery?
Both keep the house alive in an outage. They fail in different directions.
A generator runs as long as the fuel keeps coming and it will carry big loads like air conditioning - at the cost of noise and fuel, and it needs its own ongoing service from someone, since we install rather than maintain them. A battery is silent, needs nothing from you, and pairs with solar to recharge itself during the day - but its reserve is finite, and it is the weaker answer for a four-day ice storm with no sun.
Some houses end up with both, and that is a legitimate answer too. We will quote either one honestly, because we install both.

Common questions
Do you hold a dealer agreement with Generac?
No. We install Generac units without a manufacturer dealer agreement - with Generac or anyone else. That is also why we install every other major generator brand, standby or portable-ready, instead of being limited to one. We will tell you honestly which brand and unit fit your house.
What fuel does a standby generator use?
Natural gas or propane. Natural gas means no tank and no refueling as long as the gas line is intact; propane means a tank on site, which some rural properties already have. Either way the fuel supply has to be sized for the unit's demand, and that is part of the install rather than an afterthought.
Who runs the gas line for the generator?
A licensed plumber we bring in for that part of the job - the gas line is subcontracted, the same way our roofing shingle crews are. Our own electricians handle the siting, the pad, the transfer switch, the wiring, the permit and the commissioning.
Do you only install whole-house standby units?
No. We install standby generators and we also wire portable-generator inlets with manual transfer switches, for homeowners who already own a portable unit or want the lower-cost option instead of a permanently mounted standby system.
Will it run my air conditioning?
That is a sizing and transfer switch question, not a yes or no. A whole-house setup with load management can run air conditioning by shedding other large loads as needed. A smaller unit on an essential-circuits switch keeps the refrigerator, furnace blower, well pump, internet and outlets alive and leaves the air conditioning off. We work out which one you actually want before quoting hardware.
How fast does it start when the power goes out?
A standby unit senses the outage and starts on its own, usually within seconds, transfers the house over, then shuts back down once utility power returns and holds. Nobody has to be home. A portable unit on a manual transfer switch needs a person to start it and throw the switch.
How long does an installation take?
From a signed contract to a running generator, plan on 2 to 3 weeks. Site and load survey, unit availability, the gas supply work, the permit and the inspection all sit inside that window - which is why the right time to sign the contract is not the week the forecast turns.
Do you service or maintain the generator after it is installed?
No. We install it - siting, gas coordination, transfer switch, wiring, permit and startup - and we do not offer ongoing maintenance or a service plan. A standby generator needs periodic service the way any small engine does - oil, filters, battery, a look at the fuel supply - on top of its own self-test exercise cycle. Check the manufacturer's recommended interval and line up a servicer for that before you need it.
